Avabodha is a unique vacation getaway enveloped in tranquility in the serene hills of Panchgani. With the spectacular view of the Krishna river, our extraordinary eco-friendly abode awaits you. ‘Avabodha’ meaning ‘Awakening’, is the perfect place for you to reconnect with nature, with your inner self and with your loved ones. Being situated in a breathtaking waterfront location surrounded by hills, beneath a million stars, our home is a favourite to all water, mountain and nature lovers.
The space
Avabodha, our beautiful abode, stands over half an acre of land overlooking the Krishna River in the small town of Panchgani in Maharashtra, India.
Inspired by the natural beauty around us, we have strived to create and sustain our home as an eco-friendly space. Our home is built with laterite which is a natural and eco-friendly stone. Its beauty is that during the winter it tends to keep the house warm and during the summer it keeps it cool. We do not have an AC, but a heater and cooler can arranged upon request for one room. To align with the natural environment the structure is built as load-bearing and with the minimum usage of steel and cement. The stones are bound with a mixture of soil, sand, and cement.
Avabodha is a 3 bedroom river facing villa with a spacious living room, outdoor dining, porch, lawn, garden, bonfire pit and terrace; all of which face the scenic river view. Our 400 sq. ft. terrace is also a wonderful space to conduct group activities, practice yoga, stargaze, or convert into an art studio.
We have 3 bedrooms and you can comfortably accommodate 6 guests. If you are 7 guests, we can provide an extra mattress in the master bedroom, for the 7th guest, which is included with additional person charge. Extra person charges are 1500 per adult per day. We provide the guests with an option of Twin Sharing or Double Occupancy as per your preference for 2 rooms, while the master bedroom is only Double Occupancy.
The master bedroom has an attached toilet and bathroom while the other 2 rooms have 1 shared Bathroom and 2 Toilets. All the rooms and toilets are connected by a common passage that leads to the living room.
As we take only booking at a time, the charges are for the entire villa.
Our delicious and mouth-watering food cooked by our Chef and Property Manager, Kalpana Tai is one of our home’s biggest USPs. To relish your meals, we have a wonderful outdoor dining area with a scenic view. Avabodha is a strictly Vegetarian home. With an aim at being self-sustainable, we grow many of our vegetables and herbs in our own garden.
Booking meals is mandatory at Avabodha as it is not possible for us to procure any food last minute due operational limitations.

Tea & Coffee are provided with breakfast and in the evening. You can feel free to make your own tea and coffee with the kettle available in the common pantry 24/7. Jain meals are available upon request. Any other special requests like allergies or dietary restrictions should be informed prior when we contact you to confirm the menu.
Our home is a 100 meters steep walk up and down hill on a concrete pathway from the community parking to our home. We do not recommend guests to bring their car down to our private parking since taking the car back uphill could be a problem, unless it’s a 4x4 vehicle. During check in and check out we rent an outsourced vehicle (which we do not own) to help bring you and your luggage from parking to property OR our caretakers help bring your luggage if the car isn’t available. During other times if you need the car and let us know a day in advance, we can ask the owners if the car is available to book (the cost of which is bared by you).

Complimentary Board Games and books are kept in the living room. Experiences like Bonfire, Barbecue equipment with local vegetables and a romantic Tipi Experience for couples with snacks and beverages, Birthday/Anniversary Cake, Festive decor is arranged on additional charges.
Basic Toiletries, First Aid Kit, Water Filter and an Inverter for backup in case the electricity goes off is available.
To maintain hygiene, the rooms and bathrooms are cleaned everyday. Fresh bedsheets are laid with every new booking, and as an eco-friendly home, they are changed after every third night to conserve water. We provide fresh towels to each guest upon check in and request our guests to use them for 2-3 days at the least.

The kitchen and cottage behind the house is only for staff usage. The property has 2 sections, one for the guests and one for the homeowner. Both the sections have a separate entrance so that the privacy of both the guests and the homeowner is maintained.
