You will have the entire house to yourselves, ensuring complete privacy and full access to all living spaces. This is a self-managed homestay (not a resort), allowing you the freedom to relax and enjoy the home at your own pace.
If you enjoy cooking, you are welcome to use our fully equipped kitchen for a small usage fee. Alternatively, we can help arrange simple, home-style Malnad meals (both vegetarian and non-vegetarian), freshly prepared by local families.

Other things to note
Think of this less like a resort and more like a countryside experience. You’re welcome to cut firewood, build your own bonfire, wander through the village, or shop with locals if you wish. We’ll provide the tools — you bring your curiosity. Our chef is happy to cook with ingredients you source.
If you choose to use the kitchen yourselves we charge 500 per day, we kindly request that you clean the utensils after use; alternatively, you can coordinate with the caretaker to arrange cleaning for an additional charge. For guests who opt for food arranged by us, we request that plates and cutlery be washed after use — or you may check with the caretaker if you prefer disposable plates.
We also request that all waste be segregated during your stay — please place all bottles in one sack, and separate dry and wet waste into different sacks so it can be disposed of responsibly.
There are weekly markets on Friday at Cheekanahalli (9 km) and Monday at Arehalli (6 km) — and in any case, Arehalli has plenty of shops open every day.

Neighbourhood highlights

When we rennovated and preserved this house, everyone said we should ‘use the space better’ and make it more commercial. We chose the opposite — an old farmhouse, open spaces, trees and a kitchen that always smells of something homely. Markalmane is not a resort. It’s our home in Malasavara, and if you come here, we want you to feel like you are visiting a friend in the village.

I live in two very different worlds — one where I work with advanced tech like ADAS, simulation… and another where I slow down with gardening, baking, cycling, and building peaceful spaces like a farm stay. I enjoy both equally, and switching between these worlds keeps me balanced and creative.
